Welcome to my web site

My first blog was “saved” and is now lost in the adventure of “figuring things out. :)”

Honoring my theme of beauty and discovering gems, I am sharing thoughts about finding somethings that can be viewed as positive in this environment of pandemic disruption.

My Front Porch

It was early in this dreadful Covid-19 debacle. The near-do-well POTUS accepted the reality of the virulence. The weather was warm, the shut downs and stay-at-home mandates were in full swing. I stayed at home. Church services went viral. The YWCA closed. I took advantage of the “early” reserved times grocery stores offered the vulnerable elderly. That included me.

There were chairs on my screened in front porch Two were stacked just where I’d left them after my happy end of the season fall sale. Dusted and positioned, I sat in the sun and watched how busy my dead end street actually has become. There were dog walkers. Friendly folk who waved as they went by. One woman with a handsome dog that looked like a silver greyhound, stopped long enough for us to exchange names. She was Cindy, the dog was Melody…not a greyhound but a beloved purebred I was unfamiliar with. So many of the people who strolled by were familiar: but I did not know their names. I’ve lived in this house for more than forty years! What I did know, was who lived on my street when I was a child and who used to live in each house when I first moved in. I was determined to discover…who I was waving at from my front porch!
